Single User Licence

An annual renewing licence that can be cancelled prior to the licence renewing (email cancelations accepted), that permits one person to have access the product.  Licences are based on the number of users not the number of devices, or installs of the product.  In most cases, a Single User Licence may not be shared or transferred to another person, although there are exceptions for: holiday cover, maternity cover, or where an assigned single user leaves and is replaced.

For example, if there are several people that access the product, each person will be classed as a Single User and will need their own Single User Licence.   Another example being, if a husband and wife run a bed and breakfast and use the product on one laptop device to validate their guests, two Single User Licences will be needed, despite the product being on one device, only one person can access the file at a single time, and them sharing that device – both have access to the product so each will need their own Single User Licence.

Multiple User Licence

An annual renewing licence that can be cancelled prior to the licence renewing (email cancelations accepted), that permits up to 300 Single Users to access the product, so long as all users are employed by the same Organisation.  Organisations can have several Multiple User Licences.   Single Users within the Multi User Licence may not be transferred from one person / employee to another, unless for maternity cover, holiday cover or should a user leave and their position is assigned to another.

An example: A Call Centre operates 24 hours a day and has 100 terminals that provide access to the product.  Over the course of 24 hours there are four shifts of 100 agents sitting at these terminals.  Only 300 agents will be able to use the product, the remaining 100 agents would not be covered by a single Multi User Licence and the Organisation will need to purchase an additional Multiple User Licence.

Another example: A charity has 200 part-time people working / volunteering / contracted to them (it doesn’t matter if they are paid or unpaid, so long as they are contracted to the same organisation). Even if these 200 volunteers work part-time, or job share, each will need their own licence; in this case the 200 would fall within the one Multi User Licence as it permits up to 300 users.

Organisation / Internal System / Device Licence

An annual renewing licence that can be cancelled prior to the licence renewing (email cancelations accepted), that permits an unlimited number of Users to use or otherwise access the product, so long as all Users are contracted to the same single organisation, defined by a company number or similar.

Website / Internet Licence

An annual renewing licence that can be cancelled prior to the licence renewing (email cancelations accepted). With this licence, you are able to load the data into a system, typically a website server or device that you manage / operate, serving 3rd parties such as your customers with subsets of the data.  Typical applications include your end users being able to quickly locate their address, say during registration or checkout.  With this licence you pay a fixed advance annual fee, and abide by a fair usage cap, meaning up to a combined total of ten (10) million records / addresses or part addresses may be shown by you to users of your system within the year of licence.   In addition, you should limit the number of records shown to a 3rd party user to a total of 100 records / addresses per session.

Transaction Licence (Typically used in Apps, Terminals / Websites / Intranets)

Whilst under licence the data may be used and served to external Users via a portal, or system such as a Website or hand-held device to persons not contracted to them and or otherwise unrelated to the organisation, so long as no more than a ‘batch’ of not more than 100 part or full address records are displayed / provided to their user at any one time.

A batch is defined as anything from 1 to a maximum of 100 addresses or part addresses or records offered to any one person in response to a query relating to any part of the product, be that a verification, or the return of addresses, or part addresses; including any further searches within such returned data, which shall not be considered a further “Transaction” provided that no additional data is returned, and; not including returns of data in excess of 100 address records, which shall be considered as a further “Transaction” by reference to the number of address records returned in hundred multiples for which you agree to pay a single per transaction fee.

Example: You develop a solution where your clients / end users type in a partial address such as a postcode or street name.  Your solution then presents the user with up to 100 possible matches based on what your user has typed.   The user then selects one of these addresses.

You will need to keep a record of how many submissions your combined user base makes within the current and let us know so that an invoice can be raised.  Each query submitted by your user that returns up to 100 possible matches will cost you approximately 2 pence (actual price determined at point of ordering the Transaction Licence).
